Man, time sure does fly. Yesterday (May 29) made 1 year since JD and I officially became a couple. We were sitting on my couch watching some movie. He asked me if I was ready and I told him that I was. We had already went on three dates.. well actually four dates. Our first few dates, it seemed like something was always going wrong. On our first date, I asked him out to one of my favorite restaurants on my side of town in Morrow called Eggs Up Grill. When I got there, he had already arrived and he was there waiting by the door to meet me. He was wearing his favorite X-Men t-shirt and I was wearing my faded blue Snoopy shirt that says "Nope not today" (it hadn't quite faded just yet haha). We greeted each other. He smiled at me. When we met he was kinda softspoken at first. He didn't really make much eye contact with me. We found out that the wait to be seated at a table was 45 minutes. Hell no, we weren't not finna wait. I had never waited that long to be seated there. So I told him some other breakfast joints that were nearby and we the picked Waffle House right down the street because we were both hungry and we didn't want to wait. The service at Waffle House was meh. I remember ordering an Arnold Palmer and instead of homemade lemonade they gave me a glass of sweet tea and a bottle of Simply Lemonade to mix with the sweet tea on my own. But other than the fact that we ate at Waffle House, our first date was such a vibe. We laughed, I learned a lot about the nerdy things he is into like X-Men and we bonded over childhood cartoons that we both watched. I told him how much I enjoy playing tennis. I remember how comfortable we got with each other; it was then that there was plenty of eye contact and smiles between us. The most memorable thing about that first date was actually afterwards. Right before we part ways, he gave me the biggest hug I have ever felt in my life... seriously. For the first time in my life, I felt desired. I felt loved immediately. And he smelled so good; so fresh and so clean. I felt so great after that hug! I complimented him on it and told him that I wanted another one.

On our second date, we went to the Joystick bar on Edgewood. I knew how much he liked games from our first date so I thought having drinks and playing games would be a great idea. Most of the fun we had there was from the convo between the both of us because we didn't get to play any games. The pieces were missing in all of the board games and the foosball table didn't have the ball. The drinks were on point though. It was then that I found out he doesn't like beer but he loves cider. Since that bar was pretty much a bust, we decided to go elsewhere and grab a bite to eat. We walked down to the Krog Street Market and at some Asian food at this restaurant called Suzy Su's. He had it before because he had ordered it on Uber Eats so he was intrigued to find out where the actual restaurant was. It was here that we talked more about our careers and our origins. I learned more about him being a high school French teacher and that he's from South Georgia. It was this date that I got a sense of his passions and his heart. And, we ate pretty damn good! I walked him back to his car and he gave me another big hug. Later on, he texted me and told me how much he wanted to kiss me :)

Our third date was to Puttshack.. well, it was supposed to be at Puttshack. I was excited because I had only been one time before and I really enjoyed it and I wanted to go again. JD reserved us for 3pm and I left out the house too late and I didn't factor in Atlanta traffic. I didn't get there until close to 4pm. When I got there, he was sitting down on the stairs just before the entrance waiting on me. I tapped him on the shoulder and I was so apologetic because I knew this wasn't a good impression. But he was okay. He wasn't upset. He just agreed to do something else. So we ended up going to grab something to eat at Flower Child across the street, which was actually very good. Looking from the outside, I thought it was a vegan joint. But we had some very filling salads with plenty of protein. And we had sangria and wine! Amazing. Afterwards, walked a few feet and I showed him one of my favorite hangout spots, Ormsby's. We went downstairs and played Scrabble. There were plenty of laughs, but what I remember the most is that he won. Ugh! Somehow he always beats me at games. After the game, I walked him back to his car, we got in his car for a sec and I made sure to get a good kiss.

The date after that, we went to Medieval Times. I heard about this place a lot and had been wanting to go to but I was never presented with the opportunity to go. I really got to see knights and armor, and they actually rode horses and fought each other with swords on the horses... well of course it was an act haha, but it was so dope! Man, this was so amazing! Seeing what I thought I'd only see on tv but in real life. I felt like I was in a movie! And the food was plentiful. They served it just like they would in actual medieval times. Like I literally got a damn near whole chicken on my plate to eat with no utensils haha. He wanted to have this experience with me. I remember getting so emotional afterwards and feeling so special. A few days afterwards on my couch is when we made it official.

This year, to celebrate our 1-year we reserved dinner at Pappadeaux. He treated me to Pappadeaux sometime last year, again, because I had never been before, and I told him I love seafood. He is not a seafood fan, but he does love their blackened catfish, which he ordered again this time. And it was delicious. That's the only catfish I will eat. I got a Florentine pasta with octopus and shrimp. It was delicious as well. We told the server it was our anniversary and we got our choice of a free dessert. We chose a big ass slice of cheesecake. I gifted him a bouquet of fresh flowers (many of the were purple, his favorite color), a card, his favorite sugar cookies, and I wrote him a letter. He loved it and he told me he almost cried as I was reading it to him. I just wanted to make him feel as special as he makes me. He gifted me with red Lego flowers that we will do together and a card.

He is so special. Babe, thank you for a year of great memories and special moments. I love so many things about you it's hard to put into words; you're special. Thanks for making me feel special and giving me love. Happy 1-year JD. Here's to more amazing moments together baby! Love you :)
